50 ideas to share your light in the days leading up to Christmas. Who needs your light today?

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and all I can think about is welcoming in the next holiday season, the grand finale of the year, if you will. In the Collier family, the day after Thanksgiving means we put up our Christmas tree and decorations and fill our home (inside and out) with lights. There is something about those lights that seems to usher in the season and help us prepare.
This time of the year we want to think more about the birth of our Savior, his humble beginnings, his remarkable life, his unending love for us and HIS light, and we want to try a little bit harder to be a little bit more like him. It feels like people everywhere look outward just a bit more. The church foyer is full of giving trees and toy-drive collection boxes. The community at large has so many options for service and giving.
This year the Church’s Light the World campaign is brilliant (pun intended). It is not a calendar with specific “requirements” to do each day, but rather a bucket list of light-sharing ideas that can fill our month with peaceful, glowing illuminations. 50 ways to usher in a merry and bright Christmas!

P.S.
When I was first called to be the newsletter coordinator, I felt like I needed to figure out what it meant to magnify my calling. After prayer and some serious introspection, a mission statement of sorts came into being. It’s been published at the bottom of each Word of the Ward – “We hope that you felt the purpose of this newsletter shine through as you read it – to publish good tidings, feel connected, grow in love for one another, celebrate joys, support one another, and be the kind of Graham Oaks Ward the Lord envisions us becoming, all connected through faith in Him.” Thank you all for your willingness to share your families and lives, feelings and thoughts in our weekly newsletter. What an amazing ward this is! I feel so blessed to have had this calling. Thank you.
Signing off, Kellena
