“As a Loving Parent,” by Esther Hi’ilani Candari, won a Visitors’ Choice Award in the Church’s art competition.

An exhibition of the Church’s 12th International Art Competition features recent work of 148 Latter-day Saint artists from around the world exploring the gospel message that “all are alike unto God,” as taught in 2 Nephi 26:33. Among the varied themes found in this rich body of work, you’l find expressions of inclusion, diversity, community, and the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for all humanity.

Batchan (Grandma) by Ester Kawai

One of the Visitors’ Choice Award winners is Brazilian artist Ester Kawai, who created this sweet video. In the video, Kawai ponders on the sometimes incomplete ways God’s children touch each other in this life and the eternal promise offered in the temple that family relationships can continue forever. “This animated short film is an homage and a farewell letter to my grandmother,” Kawai writes.
